Academic Medicine in Service of the Community
Community engagement is central to the RM Center for GME Excellence. Trainees will be educated not only to treat disease, but to understand the social, economic, and structural factors that shape patient health.
Through clinical care, quality improvement, and service initiatives, trainees will contribute to:
• Improved access to care
• Preventive health initiatives
• Long-term continuity for vulnerable populations
By embedding community impact into training, the RM Center for GME Excellence will prepare physicians who view service as a professional responsibility, with an emphasis on becoming teaching doctors not an afterthought but an emphasis from the beginning.
