The Residents Medical Center for Graduate Medical Education Excellence, a LECOM teaching institution, is an ACGME-accredited, university-affiliated academic training hub designed to prepare the first generation of AI-native residents, with an emphasis on training our physicians for careers in academic medicine and to serve the vulnerable and rural populations of America.
Our resident physicians follow a rigorous, yet wellness grounded clinical and research training curriculum. Our cohorts not only excel in diagnostic medicine but in academic medicine and systems-based training. We are building AI-native Academic Medicine Doctors — preparing them to be future leaders in medicine through a train-to-retain philosophy.
Mission
ACGME-accredited sponsoring institution dedicated to training our first wave of AI native academic medicine centered doctors.
RMGME training sites are concentrated within community hospitals and health centers, including FQHCs, in underserved and rural regions across the country. By encouraging our graduates to stay and practice where they trained, we build sustainable training pathways that strengthen local healthcare systems, expand access to care for vulnerable populations, and cultivate the next generation of academic physicians in the communities that need them most.
What we do
We prepare the next generation of AI native academic medicine centered doctors
Our mandate is to train the next generation of AI-native, academic medicine physicians to meet the demands of medicine today and into the future, with a focus on rural and inner-city America. RMGME is affiliated with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). Our residents train in a dynamic, cutting-edge teaching environment ingrained in the methodology of a university affiliated program. RMGME believes in training safe, AI-technology driven residents so that they are not only ready for post-residency, but have a true desire to give back through becoming academic doctors post residency.

Residents Medical Center for GME Excellence is built around the belief that academic medicine should strengthen the communities it serves, by creating and expanding the best residency and fellowship training programs in America. We believe that clinical medicine, scholarly activity, a robust research program, and the integration of GME-specific AI technology will significantly enhance the productivity and well-being of our leadership, residents, administrative staff, and faculty.
Addressing physician shortages
Addressing physician workforce shortages by training resident physicians within an encouragement that our graduating residents stay in communities they will serve. RMGME believes in creating a diverse training environment. Our core mission is to build a pipeline of well-trained residents and fellows who will serve the populations RMGME serves. We aim to retain at least 30% of our trainees in their immediate communities. While remaining in the area post-graduation is not mandatory, it is highly desired. Because community commitment is central to RMGME, candidates who plan to practice locally will be prioritized during our interview scoring and rank list evaluation. Ultimately, we believe in supporting the regions in our country that are most in need.

All programming is aligned with the competencies and expectations of ACGME, ensuring graduates enter residency confident, prepared, and professionally mature, with an addition of AI being mastered academically, and through trusted and accurate teaching sources.
